Vortex Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-FMP-11324
Quick Answer: The Vortex Apparatus is a vessel rotated about its vertical axis by a low-voltage, variable-speed motor and used to produce and measure vortices. A traverse probe with linear scales on both axes measures the water surface profile.

Key Features
- Low-voltage, variable-speed motor rotates the vessel about its vertical axis
- Speed-control unit sited away from the main apparatus
- Forced vortex formed by adding water to the rotating vessel until it is about half full
- With a continuous supply directed into an annulus, water passes through perforations and spirals inwards to a small hole in the centre of the base, forming an air core
- Traverse probe moves horizontally and vertically, with linear scales on both axes
- Pitot tube can replace the probe to measure the distribution of total head

About This Product
Students compare the surface shapes of different vortices. They spin the half-filled vessel to form a forced vortex, let it settle and map the surface with the probe, then feed water into the annulus and drain it through the centre to form a vortex with an air core. The Vortex Apparatus can be supplied on export terms to Togo, Saint Lucia, Vietnam, Namibia, Haiti and Syria.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the surface profile measured on the Vortex Apparatus?
With the traverse probe, which moves horizontally and vertically against linear scales. After a few minutes the vortex becomes constant and the profile can be measured.
Can total head be measured on the Vortex Apparatus?
Yes. Replacing the traverse probe with a Pitot tube lets students measure the distribution of total head.
